Camellia Jacobs

Camellia Jacobs

Silver Spring, Maryland

Camellia Jacobs is an experienced litigator, trained mediator, and Collaborative Law Practitioner. She informs and educates her clients not only on the substantive law that applies to their situation, but also on the various processes that are available to them in resolving their legal issues. Whether through litigation or alternative dispute resolution, Camellia listens with a trained ear to the concerns and questions that are brought to light, and guides clients with an even, calm, and empathetic hand.

Prior to joining the firm as Partner, Camellia was the founder of Jacobs Mediation LLC, a mediation practice dedicated to helping families resolve conflict respectfully and efficiently. She has been certified as a family mediator by the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and for the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland.  With a background in international peace and conflict resolution studies, and as an Iranian-American raising two children in a culturally mixed family, Camellia is particularly qualified in helping families with blended cultural, racial, and/or religious backgrounds. She is keenly aware of the unique issues these families face as an additional element to consider in resolving family conflict.

In addition to her legal practice, Camellia serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law at American University, Washington College of Law, where she teaches Family Law and Externship Seminars. She was a panelist for the Maryland State Bar Association’s ADR Section’s seminar on the topic of “Maryland Standards of Conduct for Mediators” and has testified before the Maryland State Senate on the Maryland Mediation Confidentiality Act. She currently serves on the Executive Boards of both the Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution, as well as the Collaborative Dispute Resolution Professionals.
