Collaborative Law & Mediation

Lengthy negotiations and contentious litigation are far from the only methods of resolving a divorce or family law dispute. Alternative dispute resolution options such as mediation and collaborative law encourage a spirit of cooperation, free exchange of ideas and the goal of minimizing the negative impact of family disputes on all parties, particularly children.

ZAVOS JUNCKER LAW GROUP, PLLC can represent clients as their attorney during mediation or the collaborative law process, or can facilitate a mediation. We serve clients in Montgomery County and throughout Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Trained Family Law Mediators

Two of our attorneys, Michele Zavos and Camellia Jacobs, are trained mediators who work specifically in the area of family mediation.

Mediation is a process that allows parties to resolve their own disputes, assisted by a third-party mediator. The mediator does not represent either party and has no stake in the outcome of the issues. Instead, the mediator's role is to help the parties focus on the real issues between them, and craft a practical, lasting resolution.

Collaborative Law: Avoid Court Action

Michele and Camellia are also trained in collaborative law, a process that gives individuals an opportunity to resolve their differences without the threat of court action. This voluntary process is initiated when parties sign a contract binding each other to the process, and disqualifying their respective attorneys and other professionals from representing either party in any future litigation.
